Government restrictions on public gatherings because of the COVID-19 emergency continue, so the Civic Society Committee have decided to extend the suspension of all of their public and committee meetings that were scheduled to take place in September and October.

This includes:

The “Butlins Holiday Camp – The Rise and Fall of an Empire” talk by Stephen Wells on Thursday 17th September. This meeting has been provisionally re-booked for 16th September 2021.

Society Dinner – on 15th October.

Please note that the Annual General Meeting scheduled for Thursday 19th November that was due to be held in Selby Town Hall will also be cancelled but we plan to hold the AGM as a “Zoom Video Meeting.” Details of how to attend will be sent to you in late October.

The Society Committee is continuing to conduct as much as possible of its business during this period, using social media, email and video conferencing.

We hope to re-run some of the events that were suspended in March – August in 2021.

Members are important to the Society, so we apologise for the unavoidable suspensions of these events.

At present our usual meeting venue – Portholme Church – remains unavailable and our duty-of-care to members and the public who would have attended meant that this was the only option available to us.
