This shopfront was presented with a “Good Design” plaque in 2004 when it was a pine furniture and antique shop known as “Now and Then”. The shopfront design for this Grade II listed building was judged to be “an outstandingly good front of a traditional type” – done by Wright Associates of Bishopthorpe in keeping with the character of “The Crescent” and sympathetic to its location close to Selby Abbey.
In 2012 the shop changed hands to a wedding supplier, but as the shopfront design remained essentially unchanged the Civic Society considered that the award was still merited, and the plaque was reassigned to “The Wedding Shop”.
